week seven

sorry about the wait. i was trying to surprise you with a videa that i took of Emerson cooing. the video was really dark when i uploaded it and am trying to find some software to fix that so you can view it too. maybe next week. here is the blog i wrote last weekend ...

December 10th, 2007
this week Emerson has been more fussier than normal. he has been constipated and we think has a mild ear infection. so our house has had a little more drama in it than normal. we went to my parents for part of the weekend and helped them decorate for Christmas and visit with them some. we all had a great time and the girls even fell asleep in the car on the way home (and stay asleep when placed in their beds!!!). it was quite nice to end the week with a simi-quiet evening with Lucky and Emerson.

i was talking up a storm here ... too bad you couldn't hear me

and i give big smiles to my family ... i love them.

and here is Arwen Grace giving me a kiss. she does that a lot ... she must love me, too.

update on Emerson

when mommie took me into the doctor's office to see what was going on with us where nursing was concerned ... i weighed only 7lb 10oz. they were a little concerned and asked for me to be brought back in after thanksgiving to be weighed again.
so mommie brought me back in the thursday after and they weighed me ... i was 8lbs 7oz!!! yay! ... everything is getting better where this is concerned. :) thanks for all your thoughts and prayers! mommie and i greatly appreciate it!

week 6

trying to take a picture with my sisters, but they are being TOO silly!

happy birthday mommie and lillian!

me at the zoo ... the best sleep yet! lol

i woke up just once to take this picture so mommie would be proud of me ... i even opened my eyes at the right time. can you tell i love my mommie? :)

week five

this week was a great week full of smiles, coo, family, and fun! we traveled to lucky's parents in northern VA and celebrated thanksgiving with them and his sister and uncle. the girls had a blast ... Emerson slept through most of it, but was awake enough to give everyone a smile or look or two. :) on our way to lucky's parents, we stopped at my grandparents and visited for a while. while we were there, we were able to see my cousin and her family who live in NY ... so that was crazy fun. here are some of the pictures that we captured of Emerson throughout the week. we hope you enjoy them.

it is so hard to take pictures of Emerson while i hold him ... and his smiles turn goofy, like this one ... but in it's own way, it is kind of cute! :)

i just love this hat on him!

finially a great smile captured on "film" (i guess now it is "disk?")

don't let him fool you. his thanksgiving was wonderful even if he didn't get any turkey. we all hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving and were surrounded by friends and family!

week four

this week was especially hard for us. Emerson had thrush and that effected nursing. so he wasn't eating as much (since it was hurting to nurse), and therefore he was fussier more. as a result to this, he started lossing weight. so we have been slowly fixing these problems only to find out that he probably has acid reflux like Arwen Grace did. but we are on top of both of these and are ready to enjoy Thanksgiving next week. here are some pictures from this week ... enjoy!

this one he looks like my Granddaddy Billy ... or Poppy to the girls. :)

here he is looking at lucky wearing one of my favorite outfits ... Daddy's Best Buddy! (in Carolina blue ... go Heels!)

watching the little birdies on his mobile

and here he is showing off his stone cold grey eyes! i love them!

week two and three

sorry about not updating more often, but most of his two week old pictures looked like his one week old pictures since he was rarely awake. so i am just combining week two and three. hope you enjoy!

and at his two week doctor's appointment he was still 21.5" long (90%) and weighed 7 lb 8oz (25 - 50%). we won't go back until December for his 2 month appointment.

first doctor's appointment

i forgot to tell you that his doctor's appt went well. mostly they are checking to see his weight to know if he is eating enough and things like that.

he was 8lb even at birth, when we left the hospital he was 7lb 9oz (2 days old), and at the doctor's office he was 7lb 11oz (4 days old) ... so they are quite pleased with him and how he is doing.

he will have another appt in a few weeks. we will post with his weight and length so you will know how he is doing. thanks for checking in on the little guy. he doesn't realize how much he is loved already. :)

week one

Emerson has been working on finding his thumb and here was his first time getting it (and holding on to it). he continues to struggle, but is persistant in getting it. so i am sure there will be plenty of pictures in the future with that thumb in his adorable mouth. :)

here he is one night sleeping in the basinet. he doesn't sleep here often, but sometimes if he is out of it enough, he will continue to sleep when i lay him down in there and snuggle him up tight with blankets.

here is one of his pictures with his eyes open. right now they are a slate grey and beautiful, but i doubt that they will stay that way. i always hope though. :)

and here he is tonight; sleeping soundly. i am about to go join him. so come back and look for more updates and pictures next week. have a blessed night/day!

Welcome Emerson!

here is the cookie cake that Lucky and the girls picked out to celebrate Emerson's much awaited arrival ... but could someone tell me who EnRrson is? :)

here is Lillian eating the yummy cookie ...

and here is Gracie wearing it! i guess we all celebrate in our own ways. :)

sleeping smiles

here is one of his first sweet sleeping smiles and they are getting bigger every day!

here's looking at you kid ...

here is Emerson at 3.5 days old on his changing table at home. he is such a great baby! though he's love to suck and i am not too fond of his choice of pacifers, but that is something that i will just have to get over. :)

he has his first doctor's appointment tomorrow and we will update you on how he is doing sometime after then. keep coming back ... we'll do our best to keep you posted on this precious boy's life!

and to see how he has effected his sisters' and our family's lives go to our blog sites, which are listed below:

Arrival Story

soon to come ... main details are as followed:

name: Emerson Chase Wick

gender: boy

date of birth: Saturday, October 20, 2007 (due date: October 19, 2007)

time of birth: 4:27pm (labor started at: 12:05pm)

weight: 8lb 0oz excatly

length: 21.5"

everyone is doing remarkably well. it was a quick labor and the hardest part went by really fast (less than 5 minutes of pushing). we were at Rex hospital until 3:30ish (pm) on Monday, October 22. we are now at home and are learning mostly on how to have preschoolers and a new baby.

Emerson is a great baby and the girls love him so much. just look at the pictures on the online photo album (http://picasaweb.google.com/nataliewick/EmersonChaseWick)! they just aren't into taking the time right now to learn how to be a big sister to a LIVE baby and not an overly fastinating doll. :) it is going to take patience on all of our parts (even Emerson's) but we will make it and they are going to be the best big sisters that i know!

come back later for more details and such ...
